Blog: Decoart Chalky Paint Bird House

Thanks to DecoArt for furnishing the new line of the Chalky Paint.and the new crackle medium you use with this paint.  I am doing a blog for them on how I used it as my blog project. I found a rough old bird house in my studio and this was shouting to me paint me paint me.  I like the new paint line it really did a great coverage on the rough pine wood that I didn't even sand or seal.

This the chalky brown paint on the bird house and the crackle medium on the three roofs.

Painted with the blue, yellow , and peach over the crackle and made great cracks. The bottom is a rock look painted with Americana acrylic in Light French Blue.

 This is the finished Bird House, it was distress with stencils and Ranger Distress inks pads. Then a final coat of American Chalky Wax.  

Theses are the products i used on the project.  I hope my birds will enjoy their lovely new homes.

Blog: Monday's Swap Cards.

ATC cards are becoming so popular in all my groups, I am having fun in making and posting them on my blog. Here are a few I made over the weekend and sent to a group for a swap and I have just finished one to be mailed this week to a special person..
These cards can be very decorative to very simple, it is up to you as a artist.
Give them a try and you will be come addicted to making them.  Use them as your business card  on the back of the card is your name and blog, or any information you want to add to let the person you are giving them to can recontact you, or send you a card in return.

Blog: Orly

Orly is a steampunk class project that I just finished in a series of projects that I will be doing with Kelly Hoernig, on video in her online classroom. This is SteamPunk 2, it is on her site http://www.KellyHeorning.com

She was a fun piece to do I learned a lot about how to paint an eye and background texture. I did her on a 8x10 canvas.
